Speaker Guidelines
Guidelines for cybersecurity professionals who present to high school educators and students through CyberEd Collective.
Audience
Presentations are delivered to high school educators and their students. Content should be appropriate for ages 14–18 and accessible to audiences with varying levels of technical background. Avoid overly technical jargon unless you define it; focus on concepts, career paths, and real-world relevance.
Content
- Keep content age-appropriate and free of graphic or disturbing examples.
- Emphasize ethical use of skills and legal boundaries.
- Include career and education pathways where relevant.
- Respect the educator's curriculum and time; coordinate topics in advance when possible.
Format
Presentations may be in-person or virtual, depending on what you and the educator agree to. Use the platform's messaging and booking tools to confirm format, length, and any technical requirements (e.g., video link, screen sharing) before the session.
Professional Conduct
You represent both your organization and the CyberEd Collective community. Be punctual, prepared, and respectful. Do not use presentations to solicit business or collect contact information from minors. Follow the platform's Terms of Service and any additional instructions from the hosting educator.
